Motivation is the engine of a champion. It is also the thing that disappears at 4:12 PM, when the sun moves, and the sofa becomes a person’s whole life. To help, the Midnight Sprint Coaching team offers seven quotes for your fridge.
One
“You miss every leap you do not take, and you also miss most of the ones you do.” Pip, Assistant Coach.
Two
“The hallway does not care how you feel. The hallway cares how loudly you arrive.” Thaddeus Zoomsworth.
Three
“A champion is a cat who is asleep at a quarter to eleven and awake at a quarter to three.” Doctor Crumb.
Four
“Failure is just a nap that has not been appreciated.” Biscuit, Athlete.
Five
“Do not look back. There is a human back there and she is holding a slipper.” Thaddeus Zoomsworth.
Six
“Every great sprint starts with a single step, and then a second step, and then you are on the sideboard.” Pip.
Seven
“The only bad training session is the one where you were not seen.” An anonymous athlete, believed to be Biscuit.
How to use these quotes
Print each quote on a card. Place the card on your fridge. Next, ask your human to read it aloud when you wake them, as though it were a stirring speech.
They will not do this, but they will be awake, and that is a valuable first step.
Why quotes matter
We believe a good quote is a nudge. It is a small paw on the shoulder of your soul. It tells you that you are not alone, and that if you are alone, you have probably been shut in a cupboard.
A word of caution
Quotes are a tool, not a cure. If you feel low, if the sofa is calling, if the sun has moved and your spirit with it, please speak to a coach. We will not help. We will lie beside you and look at the ceiling, and that is a support network in its own way.
Have a wonderful Monday. We will see you on Tuesday, which is where we keep the rest.
